BMW rebate forms for 2008 available online

May 8, 2008

Forms for BMW CCA’s 2008 Membership Rewards rebates are now available. Through a partnership with BMW of North America, BMW CCA members are eligible for rebates of $500 to $1,500 on new and Certified Pre-Owned BMWs bought or leased through a U.S. BMW Center (dealership). Rules apply, of course, most notably that you have to have been a Club member for at least the past year with no breaks in membership. The rebates are good for the 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, Z4, X3, X5, and CPO vehicles, along with the M or Alpina variants. Not included in 2008 are the 1 Series, X6, and Mini.

The rebate program represents one of more than a dozen BMW CCA member benefits that also includes parts and service discounts; access to Club services, driving events; local social, tech, and service events; and Roundel magazine in print and digital form. Click here to see the 2008 Membership Rewards rebate rules and download the rebate check request form.

Here is a summary of the 2008 rules. But only a summary. Read the full set of rules to make sure you qualify.

Eligible models and rebates are:

  • BMW Z4 and Z4 M, $500
  • BMW 3 Series and M3, $500
  • BMW 5 Series and M5, $1,000
  • BMW 6 Series and M6, $1,000
  • BMW 7 Series and Alpina, $1,500
  • BMW X3, $500
  • BMW X5, $1,000
  • Certified Pre-Owned BMWs, $500
Am I eligible? Yes, if you meet these requirements
The program is for members of BMW CCA who’ve been primary members or associate members of the Club for at least the past year without lapse. The one-year, uninterruped-membership period runs backward from your delivery date. Once you take delivery, you have 60 days to get the rebate forms in to BMW CCA. (In previous years, forms were sent directly to BMW NA.) For European deliveries, the year-of-membership date is calculated from when you take delivery in Europe but, as a courtesy, the 60-day submission clock (not the membership clock) starts running from when you take re-delivery in the U.S.

Nice try (but not eligible)
Most new or CPO BMWs bought by Club members who’ve been members the past year are eligible. The list seems long but it covers a relatively few vehicles. Here are some situations where they’re not (again, see the full rules, also):

  • Letting your membership lapse in the past year.
  • Two BMW CCA members co-signing for the same car and seeking two rebates. There’s only one one rebate per car.
  • BMW CCA member signing jointly for the car with a non member who doesn’t live in the same household.
  • The same Club member seeking a second rebate on the same VIN number BMW. The most common example: The Club member buys or leases the car new, gets a rebate (eligible), turns the car in, then wants to buy the car as a CPO BMW and get a second rebate (not eligible).
  • Late or misdirected applications. If you’re running close to the end of the 60-day window, consider using an overnight courier.
  • New BMWs bought or leased through brokers.
  • Used BMWs bought through BMW centers that aren’t Certified Pre-Owned BMWs.
  • New BMWs, non-registered, with more than 1,000 miles on the odometer, such as company ars, dealer demos, and loaner vehicles.
  • Vehicles bought in conjunction with “other special purchase programs offered by BMW NA or BMW centers.”
  • Military and diplomatic vehicles (which already include a discount for those eligible).
  • Buying an otherwise eligible BMW then reselling it within six months.
  • The BMW 1 Series, X6, and the Mini.
  • Site members of BMWCCA.org who aren't Club members also. Joining the BMWCCA.org website is not the same as paid membership in BMW CCA.
Forms to submit include the rebate check request form, bill of sale/certificate of title, lease agreement if applicable, and an odometer statement (it may be on the bill of sale) showing less than 1,000 miles. For European delivery, submit the Euro delivery acceptance receipt you got over there; the odometer statement is not required. Submissions this year go to BMW CCA, 640 South Main Street, Suite 201, Greenville, SC 29601.
